CARD MAKING CRAZE!!!!!

Got a lot done yesterday in my stamp room… very happy to have made some headway in creating cards for my card buffet in May… these are ideas cased from SCS and so i’ll tell you about them!

Giraffe Baby Card- Inspired by SCS/Chantel (her version HERE). Her’s is adorable, but I needed to keep it all Stampin’ Up! So… there it is! Love this giraffe!!

This one – Inspired by SCS/S00zy66 (her version here)

I wanted something a little more formal and hadn’t used my Tree set yet! Love the color combo–Bravo Burgundy, Black, Sahara Sand and Naturals White.

This one is my creation….

But it was inspired by a notepad from SCS/TayloredExpressions (her version here, however you may need to be a Fan Club member to see it…). She went with the turquoise as the base/accent color. I went with Rose Red, Black and the main flower is So Saffron. LOVE THEM DOODLES!!

Another one for my card buffet next month- This one was inspired by SCS/Star of May (her version here)- I LOVE THE COLORS!!! For the card class, i’m probably going to have to order another box of Earth Elements buttons… wish we could buy individual colors!!

And finally…. my favorite card of yesterday! For the Way to Use It challenge- we were supposed to use the oft-forgotten and completely under appreciated ORCHID OPULENCE. This happens to be one of my favorites… actually it IS my favorite color in the Bold Brights family. So this was so much fun!!! If I can figure out a way to make the embossing easier for the card buffet, i may use this for the class. Or maybe it’ll be just my own!!!

Viva la Banner!

It lives! I managed to get it on the blog w/very little difficulty, thanks to Beth’s directions… and i’m very happy to have it! Yay!!!! Check out http://FreckledFunDesigns.blogspot.com for some samples of Beth’s creative Blog Banners…

Tonight is my Chipboard Techniques class that i’ve been waiting for a long time to do. I LOVE chipboard and soo… i want everyone else to love it too!! Here is a sample of what we’ll be doing tonight. I realized I am missing actually STAMPING on the chipboard, so i’ll be revising my projects a smidge to include that. A full class tonight- 8 gals and a crowded table. But it’ll be fun!

The brackets are done according to the SCS tutorial by Jenn Balcer… I used the faux leather and suede technique for the F & tag, the blue star with “wish” is my own design. The “Thank U”
came from Iris/SCS gallery and the brown “brushed metal” A is inspired by WAXYO with one of her Fan Club Dirty Dozen projects released on the 15th. If you are not a fan club member… why not?? You don’t know what you’re missing!

Challenges inspire me to stamp… and blog!

SplitcoastStampers Color Challenge for Tues April 17. Apparently, Emily Giovanni, the gal at SCS who runs the weekly color challenge, decided that since it was her birthday, she’d pick her 2 favorite color challenges to do this week! to see the SCS THREAD, click here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=241119

Combo 1- So Saffron, Rose Red & Elegant Eggplant— My card makes use of these colors> I added Always Artichoke also to color the image directly and stamped it onto confetti white cardstock.

Combo 2 – Black, White & Cool Carribean!

This is a card I did for a card buffet a few months ago… love this combo… if I have time tomorrow I’ll do another for the current challenge. The Sketch Challenge should be up by now…… hmmm!

Lake Donner Snow and a Summer Time Swap Card…..

We just got back from a weekend trip with some friends at Lake Donner. One of our friends has a family cabin, so we stayed there for 2 nights… ate, drank and played some fun board games (Catch Phrase gave me the giggles, Scene It Movie version- I won! Scrabble (dirty word- there were no kiddies!) and this fun History Channel game that tested our knowledge (and my hubby and i were the winners there as well!). We went to Reno for a few hours to gamble and eat- we had 2 winners – Keith won $200 at Roulette and Tom won $500 at video poker. Keith bought me a Seatbelt purse- something I’ve been wanting for a while but not willing to spend the money on (and cut into my stamp budget?! never!). You can see the purses here: https://www.seatbeltbags.com/default.asp So, Keith treated me to that and himself to a Fly Fishing rod/reel. :D

It snowed there on Saturday- which was so awesome! We were sitting around in our pj’s late in the morning, drinking coffee, warm and toasty while outside snow gathered on the deck and on the branches of the pines. It was beautiful. We had a great time and it’s awesome when we can stay cooped up in a house w/no internet (man, did i miss SCS!!!) and talk and laugh as much as we did. No annoyances or irritations either…
So… all this talk of snow and cold weather brings me to the current weather at home… 74 degrees today and sunny. Time for us to switch our winter clothes for the summer clothes I think. We’ll be cleaning our backyard next weekend and finishing up some home projects. I’ve uploaded an old Summer Time swap card using non-Stampin’ UP! patterned paper (can’t remember the brand) and Whimsical Alpha from SU.

Now, i really really need to quit wasting time and get on an english paper. Oh, I also want to thank the gals who are actually reading this and commenting on my blog! Thanks for coming around and taking the time to say hello… it’s still weird to me to write and have people read it, but it’s also been a lot of fun. Way cool to say whatever, post pics and basically blab about random day to day things and have people actually come to see it is amazing!! I always think everyone else’s blogs are so much more exciting and cool, which may be true, but thank you for stopping by anyway!
d;)

Challenge Card

I have been sick for the last couple days. So naturally as i convalesce on my couch, I’ve been surfing SCS… and dying to do the weekly challenges. So today i managed to get off my butt and get into the craft room. Since I’ve been thinking of this design for a day already, it only took me a 1/2 hour to whip up. I am liking how it turned out!!
All items Stampin’ UP!
Sage Shadow base w/Canvas Background stamped in Sage Shadow.
Sentimental Journey designer paper mounted on top of a basic black piece. I attached 2 strips of blk grosgrain ribbon, some hodgepodge hardware buckles w/brads and lightly frayed the ends of the ribbon. World Tour stamped image was inked with Sage Shadow, Real Red and Basic Black then stamped onto Very Vanilla cardstock. Mounted on Real Red cardstock, and a bit ‘o blk grosgrain wrapped around. OH, i distressed the edges of the red mat with the SU Distressor tool kit.
Another thing i was doing on the couch was playing with Adobe Photoshop Elements- trying to come up with a blog banner. I think I managed one, but couldn’t (despite my nickname) figure out how to load it on my blog. Plus, I’ve been emailing Beth of Freckled Fun Designs http://freckledfundesigns.blogspot.com/ and sent her all my ideas- am excited to see what she comes up with- i’m sure it’ll be magnificent!!! Probably best i leave that to the professionals….

Here’s my draft….
