wintergreen christmas

dc014-coordination.jpg

SCS Demo Challenge- DC014- Coordinating Designer Series Papers with cardstock and inks in the same color scheme.  I love the new Wintergreen DP that uses last year’s Holiday Thyme DP patterns (colors were Cranberry Crisp, True Thyme) but with a refreshed color palette.  I ordered 2 packages of Wintergreen and have been hoarding them until today.  But today’s challenge FORCED me to open up a package and actually use it. And that’s okay because it turned out cute! (if i don’t mind sayin’ myself!).  To quote JanTink… YILM!

DEETS:  Season of Joy stamp set,  Wintergreen DP, Certainly Celery, Sage Shadows, Always Artichoke and Whisper White.  For the main image, I first inked up my stamp with Certainly Celery- then added Always Artichoke and Sage Shadow w/the markers.  I stamped firmly and lingered for a few just to make sure it was fully stamped on.  For the finishing touch, I used White narrow grosgrain, and a sprinkle of glitter on the snowflake.  On the Always Artichoke base- I stamped a snowflake in Always Artichoke ink.   I like this card enough (and it was fast enough) to use for my Christmas SAS…

Also… just a little pic of SEI’s new line coming to stores in Sep.  I got my hands on some of this at the last scrapbook expo in Santa Clara a couple weeks ago and just have to share- for all you dog & cat lovers….

aaahhh…. a whole day to play….

Oh, i’m so happy- yesterday i had a full day to myself to play- got lots done too.  Besides the projects shown here, I also cleaned and reorganized my room! I just wish I could play more today, but my friend Ruben is having his 40th birthday shindig today and it’s supposed to be a surprise…. we’ll see!

So here’s his card-  he’s always up to something so I thought a Monkey Business card would be fun (he’s got 2 little girls, so the card will be appreciated by them too!).

img_0001.jpg  I made a spinner card for him- so the monkey can spin towards the HUGE NUMBER 40 that signifies his elderly status (just kidding, honest!).

img_0002.jpg The inside has a little pocket to hold the gift card (I use an old Starbuck’s card that I keep in my craft room to measure for fit).  The cardstock is held in place with sticky strip.  I printed the sentiment directly onto the River Rock cardstock.

DEETS:  All materials Stampin’ UP except for the chipboard numbers – those are Rusty Pickle.  Zoofari & Bamboo background stamps.  Basic Gray, River Rock and Very Vanilla cs, Sentimental Journey DP.  River Rock, Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel and Blk Stazon inks.  Slit punch, circle punch, glue stick, shiny penny :D

And my next card is for a a friend who has brought into this world a new baby girl!  Congrats Catherine & Marceliano!

img_0007.jpg  Wild About You, Hugs & Wishes stamps, Old Olive Textured cs, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White cs, same colors for the inks and Old Olive wide grosgrain ribbon.  I punched the holes on the giraffe and mounted that panel to the card base with dimensionals.

And finally- a birthday present & card for another friend I haven’t seen at work since I started the graveyard shift… :(   She has a granddaughter and I thought she could use this little photo album to bring the latest pics in for show & tell.

enchantebaroquephotobook.jpg  The photo album is a great find at Container Store- it’s completely white and boring… just dying to have someone take it home and dress it up!  I used SU Enchante’ DSP and stamped Baroque motifs on it in Chocolate Chip and Perfect Plum.  The bookplate is On Board Accents, colored with Chocolate Chip craft spot, and finished off with some bronze metallic paint.  The snaps on the bookplate are Rusty Pickle (i think) and they are just glued on.  In the center of the flowers, I glued on pink rhinestones from A*muse.  The ribbon is from SU Theater and Plum wide organdy. The prima has an amber rhinestone i think from Wild Asparagus…

cocoabaroque.jpg and finally – this card is done in Close to Cocoa textured cs, Very Vanilla cs.  Pale Plum, Perfect Plum and Chocolate Chip inks.  Hodgepodge Hardware buckle and Basic Grey velvet ribbon.  I used Crystal Effects for the flower that is popped up on dimensionals- and another amber rhinestone was put in the center before it dried.  The technique for that flower is called Faux Epoxy- as it’s supposed to look like an epoxy sticker!

I hope to do the Splitcoast IC challenge today or tomorrow… here is the link to that- very pretty and i have just the paper for it!!  Have a great day!!!

paula k from hawaii… you are the sweetest!

This afternoon I found a priority mail box on my front porch.  Not expecting any deliveries or swaps yet, I was completely suprised to see it was from a gal i “met” via a purchase from my blog.  Paula and her friend, Natrisha both live in Hawaii (near my Aunt & Uncle’s home as a matter of fact!) and both were super pleasant and fun to do business with.  Paula sent me wonderful care package from Hawaii…..

giftfrompaula.jpg - some lovely Hawaiian flower embroidered coasters, Chocolates & Kona Coffee candies and dried Hawaiian pineapple… and an adorable card with those sweet Simple Somethings Birds all dressed up in Dazzling Diamonds!!  So, THANK YOU PAULA!  You are too sweet and I hope we keep in touch.  As for the sweets… I dug in this evening after dinner… how’d you know pineapple was my most favoritest fruit? :D

Speaking of swaps… mine are done!  And i get to play in my craft room ALL DAY today…. so i’ll have LOTS of projects to post tomorrow and none of them are secret!  Beccabatgirl-  WATCH YOUR MAILBOX, MY SWAPS ARE COMING!  My tail is sooo waggin… can’t wait til the 1st week of September (early Christmas?) to get the swapped swaps back from the swap group’s swaps.  Say that five times fast….
