ohmiwerd! ohmiwerd! giddy giddy giddy me!

Well,  I’m back from Bodega Bay Scrapbook weekend and have unloaded several plastic storage bins, a table, chair and bags.  It was a great time- it’s always nice to get away with my sisters and girlfriends, watch movies from dawn til dawn again.  Stay in our jammies all day, eat and drink whatever and occasionally sleep and shower!

This time, I really didn’t have a clue what I wanted to work on- I really need to finish my sister’s wedding album, but I have put off for years organizing my photos.  If you’re a scrapper, you know what that entails.  Arrghh.  However, I saw an ad in one of the scrapbook magazines a while ago that intriqued me.. WeRMemoryKeepers Memory Dock http://store.scrapbook.com/wr-70824-7.html.  This is a nice looking linen covered photo storage system that allows you to flip down the front panel to access your photos and comes with 15 photo envelopes that will hold sizes up to 5×7 photos.  Most of the nifty photo storage products on the market only hold up to 4×6.  So both the easy access and photo size features sold me.  I also bought the 2 drawer box to sit on top for larger items.  The drawers are a little hard to open tho.  I will probably get another Memory Dock because, as we all know, time goes on….   and mine is full already!  So I spent a full day in Bodega purging photos, organizing by topic, person and date.  For scrap items that aren’t photos,  like graduation announcements, newspaper articles, baby or wedding announcments, I bought some manilla file folder envelopes from Office Depot.  See the pics below….

organized_shelf.jpg My office armoire – instead of all the bills and files i had up on top, i moved my pretty photo storage boxes and albums out for display and hid the messy files and bills in the closet (where they belong).  LOL!

inside_memory_dock1.jpg Here’s the Memory Dock open- it also comes with a small 4×6 album that is meant for index photos and photo cds.

large_size_souveniers_by_year_and_person.jpg This is a file box with the large (letter size) manilla file folder envelopes to store all the keepsakes that don’t fit in a photo envelope.  Finally organized them by person and year.  Now, whenever we get a keepsake like an announcement, or newspaper clipping, whatever, it’ll go directly into the box, instead of the old pile they used to go in.  When I’m ready to scrap something, I just grab the appropriate year’s photos and keepsakes and I’m good to go!

Two other projects i worked on:  Starting a family recipe album that I’ll make 4 copies of.  My mom in law is working on getting her fudge recipe and my father in law’s Bloody Mary recipes for me (ohhh ya-fudge and bloody mary’s- who needs anything else?).  And I also tried some digital scrapbooking.  I’ll post those pics another day when I’m further along.

OH! ONE MORE THING!!  Thank you Becky- BeccaBatGirl.  My day was made today by BeccaBatGirl who invited me to an invitation only swap on SCS.  It will be a group of gals who swap regularly with each other.   There are certain rules in this swap to ensure certain quality of work and Stampin’ UP! products only.  I’m thrilled to be asked into this group.   I have long been a fan of Becky’s stuff- I have her gallery bookmarked even!   Then she told me Kristina Werner- aka StarofMay, had joined this group… well…. HOLYMOLEY!  How could i say no!  So a big shout out to Becky and the rest of the gals.  This is so awesome and I can’t wait for the first swap!  I only hope my stuff is worthy!!
