Today it rained. Not a downpour; and it was mostly sunny today with temps in high 60′s. But on my way to deliver some stampin’ goodies, a few rain clouds scattered some drops around. I LOVE the smell of first rains. I LOVE fall. October has to be my favorite month for several reasons. First- the Moon- the Harvest Moon is only the best Moon EVER. Second- the temps go from hot to brisk. Then there’s the leaves that change from green to yellow and red and finally drop from their perches. I love all seasons and am lucky to live where we get them each on their own, in their personal glory, for just the right amount of time. By the time it gets to around to changing, I’m ready for it. But… out of all the seasons, Autumn is the one for me. I’ve already unpacked my sweaters, boots & scarves!
It has been a few days since I’ve posted. A lot has gone on this week! It has been a very productive week, in spite of the one sick day spent on the couch. I’ve been creative, but not in the stamping sense. We’ve been busy getting ready for the Oktoberfest party. This includes party planning as well as finishing up pending household projects so our friends don’t know what slackers we really are! Some items of interest:
Friday 9/28 was our 16 yr anniversary! We spent the day walking and eating our way through San Francisco.
Saturday 9/29 Wine club event- Gopfrich Winery in Healdsburg- Cheese & Wine pairing…. more eating, more drinking…
Sunday 9/30 – Keith and his twin sister Natalie’s birthday- spent the afternoon at his folks- yet even more eating…
Monday 10/1 - painted our bedroom! Behr paint- Scotland Road- a deep grey-green. Burned off most of the calories i hope from the previous days binges. Keith also burned calories with a huge load to haul to the dump.
You know, I realized today that in addition to collecting stamping and scrapping stuff, i collect PAINT. I am constantly changing the wall colors in our house and redecorating. However, for some reason, our master bedroom has been neglected.
When we first moved in 4 years ago, I started a Venetian Plaster wall treatment that I quickly grew tired of. Tired of looking at and physically tired from doing it! It is essentially re-plastering your walls with a colored plaster. You must make an effort to put it on evenly, with the right amount on your trowel to leave the essential trowel marks. AAgggghhhh. Patience is not my strong suit. The room has been in a 75% complete state for about 3 + years now! I also fell out of love with the butter yellow color. Uninspiring. For those considering Venetian Plaster- it looks AWESOME. But it is hard labor. I recommend doing an accent wall only vs a whole room.
Since I gave up on the Venetian Plaster, I knew I’d need to paint the room. So, for the last year and a half, there has also been patches of rejected paint colors on the walls in various locations throughout the room. Basing my most recent color choice on a duvet cover, I forced myself to commit to Scotland Road. I had to finish this room- Keith was tired of it looking like a quilt. Nothing like a big party to spur me into action and I can now say OUR BEDROOM LOOKS AWESOME! I’m sooo glad it’s finally done. I’ll post a pic as soon as the stuff is all back in place. Keith is soo happy too because the room is actually close to done (I need to finish the trim color and closet door). It’s a nice looking room, not too girly and Keith likes the color with our dark furniture and bedding. And completing this room now leaves only the master bathroom in patchwork status!
And finally… on my sick day- I watched Pushing Daisys, Private Practice & Dirty Sexy Money. Pushing Daisys is very cute, quirky and different- fun! Private Practice… yawn. Dirty Sexy Money- funny in a sarcastic, twisty kinda way.
Apparently, not posting daily-ish is not a good thing- lots to say this time- sorry if i bored ya!
