Hello my pretties! (how do you type the cackle laugh?) Nyeeeh hee hee? Whatever. Today’s topic is “How to use the Hat Pins in the Stampin’ Up! Pretties Kits”.
Below is a group picture of the latest swap I participated in- Pretties Swap. As you can see, there are at least 6 ideas on how to use the kit effectively and if you search SCS for Pretties, you will find a bazillion more. Since pretty much everything stamping related has some kind of flower in it, the Pretties kit is kind of a no brainer. If you don’t have a kit in your pile of stampin embellishments, why not? Dontcha wish you had a stash as hot as these? Dontcha?
The Hat Pins are really not hard at all. I’ve seen a lot commentary questioning how to use these, but really all you gotta do is stick it in ribbon. Sure, you can stick in paper too. Ribbon is easier. You can use glue dots to keep it in place if you don’t want it to move. They really look pretty special! Probably best to not mail a card with them as they are pretty bulky. Below is my swap card. I tried to do some stitching, but my machine is off kilter. It’s ancient, and the manual is gone. I have no idea how to get the zigzag stitch “tighter” because even the tension thingy isn’t making a difference. To keep the beads at the top of the hat pin, I used a glue dot and wrapped it around the pin where the last bead sits. You can also use a drop of Crystal Effects for this as well. I like how vintage-y this card looks. Pretty!
