ikea ikea ikea ikea ikea ikea…..

oohhh booy!  We went to Ikea yesterday- My MIL, Mardi, SIL Natalie & Veronica and my adorable niece Rachel.  Veronica, Natalie and Rachel had never been to Ikea and that was a situation I couldn’t live with for very much longer.  So our annual Christmas Shopping Trip to San Francisco turned into our First Annual Shopping Trip to Emeryville instead.  We may have to increase the trips to quarterly as SF is still a lot of fun too.

IKEA – as always, it was FASCINATING!  Something there for everyone and for those of us with OCD tendencies, a total immersion into our drug of choice- organizational tools galore.

I didn’t do too bad there, though- one birthday present, some pillows and duvets for the bed and the items above.  The jar is for my scrap ribbon stash, the light- for my craft counter and the boxes- 2 per package for $7.99 are going to be Christmas gifts- I’m going to alter them and make dividers.  They will become Card Organizers!  The dividers will be made so you can organize cards either by month or by occasion.  They will fit larger cards (as well as the one or two store bought ones).  I will of course, share a post on that later!

And then to the Bay Street Emeryville shopping center – a live/work/shop mall that seems to be the new building scheme here in Northern CA.  Which is GREAT! Because it seems to put the people back into the heart of the city vs bedroom communities and who on earth wouldn’t want to live within walking distance to the movie theaters, PFChang’s, The Elephant Bar, Pottery Barn, GAP and Barnes & Noble?  I hesitate to say that you could walk to Ikea as I personally would have a hard time carting home my loot from there by foot.  OH! I guess i could get a wagon.

My adorable niece, Rachel, who incidentally was just accepted into San Francisco State University <bragging tho i had nothing to do with it> (she’s like, really smart and stuff) brought us into Sephora – and began to show us the makeup she uses, Benefit.   She does a great job with her makeup, so i had to try it out.

$93 dollars later I have this to show for it!  The “record” is a foundation that somehow matches anyones skin tone- apply it with a sponge and it dries into a powder finish.  The “Georgia Peach” is a skin brightener with a peachy tint.  And the eyeshadow is gorgeous- my colors of pink and browns with the nice brushes to help achieve the perfect smokey eye for instant glam.    benefit.jpg

And finally, some books we found that cracked us up…..

A book of pin-up posters from years gone by of our “HUNKS”.  Everyone except Johnny Depp, from rock stars to actors are in this book- from the early days of their careers.  Instant hilarity. Below is my favorite pin up- Rod Stewart (the elegant “woman” on the stairs).  WTF?

So that book, with Tom Selleck on the cover and the other book- Rear Ends – a collection of vintage photos featuring funny shots of various bottoms in various activites (all G rated).  Funny!  So some lucky souls will have these wonderful treasures at Christmas time.
