erin, you sneaky girl!

i “know” this group of 20 women or so who happen to be Supreme Beings.  Seriously- they are spectacular.  I’m so glad to have ”met” them and hope someday we meet IRL!   Yesterday, i opened my front door to this box with my name on it.  I wasn’t expecting anything so I was surprised to see Erin’s name on the return address.  “What is she up to?” i wondered….

Ohmiwerd.  This is only the top layer too!  Below the yummy swiss mocha cocoa and adorable stamps and candy, there were page pebbles, sparkly cardstock stickers, a notepad and matching pen and a planner and more candy and ribbon and an adorable card with yummy lipgloss and a post-it note pad covered in cute paper…

Erin, Thank you so much for your sweet handmade goodies and all the thought & work that went into this package!

You are UBER-SWEET!

yes, i am that dingy….

…so i was rushing around today, needing to get out of the house by 3:15 pm to get to work on time.  It’s 3:10 and i’m still getting dressed and it dawns on me that my two friends at work pestered me last week to take a night off so they could work (they’re vultures, yes… actually, they both just used up all their comp time so they’re antsy to rebuild their comp time).  So, the more i think about it, the more i think i’m off but of course, i can’t just assume.  So i call in to ask.

“Hi Jen, it’s denise… i gotta a stupid question”

“okaaayy….”

“Am i off tonight?  I put in for a night off last week but can’t remember it it’s today or not!”

Jen is trying to not be obvious, but her snickering is just audible as she’s walking over to the schedule…

“um, yes Denise, you’re off tonight!”  <gives up any pretense and is laughing at me now>

“Oh that’s too funny- i was all rushing around trying to leave the house and suddenly thought i might not have to!”

Both of us are laughing now…  and when I called Lori (one of the vultures working for me) we had a good laugh too.  And so did my hubby and my sister.  Not that it surprises any of them, only that it’s a “Typical Denise Misadventure” and you just gotta laugh.

So, my time off was well spent.  I finished up extra packs of my Christmas SAS class cards and am well on my way to finishing the Christmas Card Mailings.  I have a new one to share!

target-bag-christmas-card.jpg

The card was inspired by a small gift bag i found at my favorite time-wasting store, Target.  When I saw the sky and the tree- instant inspiration!  Can we say Soft Sky DSP?  Merry & Bright Christmas Tree?  Hee hee hee!

ingredients: Merry & Bright, Season of Joy stamp sets, Kraft CS, White Textured CS, Soft Sky DSPrints, Wild Wasabi, Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White cs.  Certainly Celery and Old Olive Markers, and Soft Sky classic ink.

mystery solved…

You may have read this post about my Secret Elf and how i thought i’d seen the card before on a blog… and how i wasn’t going to rest until i found it!  Well.  It seems Ms AJ Otto, aka Willsomama,  has taken pity on me.  She has come clean and posted her card!  It’s weird that I had thought I’d seen it before… and she hadn’t posted it.   So that mystery is solved, but now there’s a NEW mystery…  how come i thought i’d seen the card before on a blog?  And the weirder thing?  I scanned AJ’s blog the most heavily in my search because I had a “feeling” it was her!   Eeerie, eh?  (insert Twilight Zone BEE-DEE-BEE-DEE music here).

So, this is a SHOUT OUT to AJ for a sweet gift and for coming out as my Elf! You ROCK!

In other news:  Yes, i’ve been busy in my lab.  However- i’m debating on posting the magnificent projects.  Do i post them to awe and amaze you and blow the surprise for my lucky recipients?  Or do i hold out and keep the projects under wraps, possibly causing fear and panic among the blogging world?  It’s a hard decision.   I hope you all understand the pressure i’m under. :D

Meanwhile, I have started a 2nd digital scrapbook project – a “slam book” of my family’s top 10 favorites.  Here are 2 layouts already….  I hope these help assuage the pain of not having paper crafts to look today!  Peace Out!

mojo returns…

christmas-gift-4-2007.jpg Thankfully my mojo has returned, in time to get a few Christmas card prototypes done and a swap gift completed.  Thanks to the little mystery elf, whom I’ve still to identify!

The photos today are of a gift basket I made for my local demo group’s gift exchange that was last night.  I found a card size acrylic box at Container Store, stuffed it with tissue and fake snow.

christmas-gift-2007.jpg  Then, I decorated a Papertrey Ink tea tin and nugget tin using Soft Sky print papers, Wild Wasabi textured cardstock and Certainly Celery wide grosgrain ribbon.  I used a printer to print the labels (font is CK Kolette, my ultimate favorite font).  The nugget tin has miscellaneous silk flowers in it, along with some Heidi Swapp ghost flowers.  I’m sorry there’s not an individual picture of the nugget tin- but it also has a label similar to the tea tin.  There is a plastic stack of spiral clips and 8 rolls of ribbon spools divided into two groups of 4- with a scallop punch topper.

I wrapped more of the grosgrain ribbon around the whole box and put a tag on the front with Whisper white, Wild Wasabi and Soft Sky – handwriting the “Jewelery Box” on the circle.  Then packaged up the whole deal with clear plastic wrapping paper.

christmas-gift2-2007pg.jpg The Tea Tin is filled with chipboard alphabets – an “A” is attached to the tag and put where the A for the word “Alphabits” is.  I didn’t want to adhere the A permanently to the tag, so the recipient could use it, so I punched 2 holes with a 1/16″ hole punch and threaded silver cording thru the holes.  I then attached the tag with a brad to the label.

I have plans for the remaining tea tins and nugget boxes- food related!  I will have those done this week and post those for you.  Please ask if you have any questions on these projects since the pictures may not show them each in their individual glory! LOL!

thank goodness for…

for little Christmas Elves!  I got this little bundle of goodies in the mail on Saturday!  From a Secret Little Elf who I know I know because I recognize the sweet tree card!  I think I’ve even commented on a blog about it.   So I spent this weekend in an effort to find this sweet tree card and…. nada.  So thank you my little elf friend!  I love the sweet treats- the ribbon is so cute (Stampin’ UP! originals) and the spiral clips and Christmas stamps.  I think it kick started my mojo….
