a new member of the family…

mitzi-joins-the-family.jpg  Meet Mitzi Hinton.

She has already claimed a chair in our family room, along with the elephant pillow.  She’s technically Keith’s aunt (if a dog can be an aunt) as she’s Granny’s baby.  She is the sweetest, little lap dog ever and whenever we’re up at Granny’s, she’d be torn between Granny’s lap and mine!  She joined us a little unexpectedly, but we’re happy to have her.  Today we went to Keith’s Granny’s house in Willits, CA to say goodbye.

2005-10-16_0270.jpg   Theola Seaton Hinton, 96 yrs old and a funny, fiesty lady up until a few weeks ago, when the pain in her belly became known as metastasized cancer.  She is home now, resting comfortably with the help of her daughters & granddaughter and Hospice, as well as the seemingly hundreds of friends and family coming by her house all day.  She was our matriarch and really the glue that kept our large family together.  You could bet on a huge party every October at her place to celebrate her birthday.  Whenever we visited her, there was always someone else there visiting too!  We will miss her.

Tag! Catch Up Day!

I have been Tagged 2 times this week – 1st tag- Brought to you courtesy of Jan Hunnicut.  She tagged me with the “7 unusual things about you” tag.  Apparently, she’s one of those gals who likes to know she’s not alone when it comes to being unusual… hee hee! You can see her eccentricites here.  I thrive on being unusual.  Unfortunately, I am limited to posting only 7 unusual things.

  1. I bite my fingernails and don’t really care how they look…. however my toenails MUST be pedicured, painted and pretty, even in the dead of winter.  I’d like to have pretty fingernails if it didn’t cost me $ every two weeks and an hour or so of my time.
  2. The book Bad Cat: 244 Not-So-Pretty Kitties And Cats Gone Bad sends me & my sister into hysterics every time we get together to look at it.
  3. I can’t stand Oprah (I KNOW! DON’T HATE ME!)
  4. I can raise one eyebrow.
  5. I actually like the History & Science channels.
  6. I don’t like ALL Chocolate desserts such as Death by Chocolate, Chocolate Lava cake or chocolate ice cream.  Tres Leches Cake, or Tiramisu with just a hint of chocolate are my favs.
  7. On scrapbooking weekends (next one in just a month!), my average number of completed pages is about 10.  It takes me a day to finish 3 (2page layouts).  I am ridiculously slow.  Everyone else gets 20-40 (2pg) layouts done.  I wonder if that will change now that I’m going digital…

Okay, so that’s what i narrowed it down to.  Now I am supposed to tag 7 other bloggers.  But I think I’ll just tag 5 (see below)  and they can choose between sharing 7 unusual things, or the 5 things tag below.  If you’re reading this and haven’t been tagged, and want to- please help yourself to these, post on your blog and post a comment back here w/a link and i’ll check yours out!

My 2nd Tag game is courtesy KrystieLee, who’s game is “5 Things…” and you can see her 5 things here.  So, without further ado…

5 Things People Probably Don’t Know About Me:
See my 7 Unusual Things  above!

Seriously… this is enough info for someone to clone me and assume my identity, and take it over and become my bizarro evil twin sister.  (this is my defense prep).  I’m tagging:

Chat, Danielle, Dawn, Lauren and Maria (who has recently returned to the internet!)- consider yourself tagged!
