Not sure what my deal is, but i usually wait til the DAY BEFORE a class or a swap is due (to mail) to “git er done” and it always comes out better than when i plan responsibly and schedule prep into my time. For some reason, it goes faster too- today only took me about 4 hours to get ready for my Embellishment Bonanza class.
My Embellishment Bonanza class is a way for my customers to play with the new goodies that they may not know how to use or even know they exist in the catalog. For instance- I had NO IDEA there was a thing called Sticky Cuts letters (pg 186) until SU! announced a trial bulk buying program (thank you SU! -that ability singlehandedly makes classes like this SO much more do-able for Demos!) that had a few of these available in bulk. No idea – never even saw it! I also never saw “Essence of Love” set in the Mini preview either, until Krystie Lee’s card presented itself to me (the clouds parted, the angels sang and i now must own this set too!)… Funny how you can miss things in the catalog… guess that is good because every day brings a new surprise…. {eyes rolling here}.
So anyway… this is one card that I came up with all by my little bitty self… and I LOVE IT! OMIWERD! This card features Die Cut Blooms and Styled Silver Hodgepodge Hardware from the Occasions Mini. I managed to use up some scraps too! Okay- Whisper White cs as the base- then some Textured White cs as the front panel… (this was the scrap!), then I stamped “You’re the Best” from the A Little Birdie Told Me set, punched it with a 1″ square punch- then adhered it to the HPH bookplate with some double sided tape, then thread Bashful Blue Grosgrain ribbon through the holes and adhered them to the back side of the front panel. Then i adhered the panel to the base. Beate had a card on her blog where she sponged the Die Cut blooms with some of the same color ink and that really added something to it, so that’s what i did here, with Bashful Blue and Pumpkin Pie ink, before mounting them onto the card with Dimensionals. (Oh, and i added the brad from HPH too, before mounting it!). For the leaves, I punched on flower with the 5 Petal Punch and cut the flower into leaves, adhered with a glue dot. I finished it by drawing stitches with the white gel pen. Does this card not totally rock??? ya it does. fer shure.
And Card 2 – Featuring Dyed Pretties and Rub Ons. This was inspired by a card made by JennT. To dye the flower, I simply laid the flower on a Pretty In Pink classic pad, and sponged it until most of the flower was colored. I then blotted it with paper towels. I also added some Old Olive via ink from the lid and an aquapainter- adding a line down the center of the petal. To speed up the drying process, I used the heat gun for a few minutes, keeping it in place with some tweezers. I used the oval punch for leaves- Old Olive cs for that as well as the 1″ circle punch for the center. Dazzling Diamonds was put on the center with 2way glue and then a flat back pearl. SAB Love & Happiness rub-ons finished the card.
Our 3rd card features Sticky Cuts Letters, Cosmo fine glitter and Felt Fusion Flowers. I shamelessy copied DaisyStampinator’s card, making minor adjustments. Stamp set used- Happy Everything, Old Olive base, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White cs, Bali Breeze DSP, Purely Pomegranate ink, H sticky cut letter, Piercing mat, Earth Elements brads, Cosmo fine glitter (the pink actually matches the DSP better than what this pic shows). White narrow grosgrain ribbon and the corner rounder. I love these colors!
And finally, our 4th card features Build a Brad, the Scallop punch and my current fav set- Always. Soft Sky, River Rock, Shimmer White and River Rock DSPrints paper; Blue Bayou, River Rock, Soft Sky ink. Scallop Punch, 1 3/8″ circle punch, 1 1/2″ circle punch, 1/4″ circle punch (for the brad). River Rock stitched ribbon & Build a Brad.
I hoped you enjoyed my cards as much as I did making them!
