aaaannddd We’re Back!

20 Feb

Hi everyone!!   I am back from Regionals and our Ski vacation in Snowbird, UT.  I had so much fun at both places!  All the preconceived notions I had about UT/SLC and the funky drinking laws there have been completely demolished and replaced with AWE!  Utah, Snowbird and Salt Lake City are FABULOUS!  Utah is gorgeous, the people are SO nice and even ordering alcoholic beverages wasn’t freaky at all (as i’ve heard from friends traveling thru).  In fact, there was more religion at the Regionals than in UT.  So let me begin first by Regionals… then onto our ski adventure.

I went with 2 Stampin’ friends, Kristie and Debbie, pictured below.  They are part of our local stampin’ group of friends and both of them are sooo talented in their distinctly different styles.  They’ve both been to SU events before and helped me, the newbie, figure things out.

However, I still managed to miss the SCS swap meet at Lunch time.  We were starving so when the call for lunch came, we dashed to the line to pick up an excellent boxed lunch.  As I was wolfing my lunch down, I glanced back and saw some ladies, who had a familiar aura (think Avatars!) walking away from the back of the room.  OOh! Was that the SCS swap?  Yup.  I managed go find Jane (WhoopsieDaisy) and Caroline (CraftyCaro) and get my swaps to them as well as pick up mine- AWESOME!  I am working on uploading and adding credits to those pics to share.  I also got to meet Jackie Pedro- StrappyStamper!!! Whoo hooo!  She’s as nice as you’d think from SCS!  Jackie, me in center and Kristie posed for the camera below.

It is so nice to finally meet Jackie and some other SCS’rs.  Just wish i made it on time to meet everyone – SCS is so wonderful because of the people- so i missed out on some of that fun.

3pm came around and my hubby, Keith was meeting me out front to get us both to Oakland Airport.  We had a 5:20 flight to Salt Lake City.  We were staying with my Brother in Law, Wally, family’s time share at Snowbird- Iron Blosam (that’s how they spell it- us flower stampers know it’s really Blossom!).  The resort, the people and staff were AWESOME!  Never have i been in a place where there were so many nice, polite, friendly people!!!  Hear that, California??? UT puts you to shame!!!

Sunday morning we take off for skiing.  Keith decides to take snowboard lessons and fortunately, I changed my mind about last minute.  I opted for beginner ski lessons as a refresher.  I say “fortunately” because, with only an hour of Keith’s lesson, he fell hard.  Hard enough to break his clavicle and tear some ligaments.

keith-and-keith-from-snow-patrol.jpg  Here he is being walked to the snowmobile for transport to the emergency clinic at the ski resort.  SHOUT OUT TO SNOWBIRD EMERGENCY CLINIC & SNOW PATROL!  Again, more nice people, very efficient and they made a rotten thing much more “fun” if you can say that!

Keith had to lay low til our flight Tues morning.  We still managed to have some fun at Snowbird, however.  Dining out, watching skiers and hanging out with Deb & Wally.  We got in to our doc today and will see the orthopedic surgeon on Monday (unless he looks at the xray and wants us there sooner- i hope!).  We’re just waiting now.  I’m so glad i listened to my extreme panicky feeling when we were signing up for classes and opted out of snowboarding.  Can you imagine how it would be if we were both broken?  Worse yet… NO STAMPING??

Stay tuned for some photos of my favorite swaps from Regionals, as well as the SCS group swap from Regionals.  More later!
