Great Swap Girls – Occasions Mini Case Challenge

Wouldn’t you know it?  A GSG challenge came up at the EXACT moment I needed a baby card for someone who’s expecting (hmm…. wonder who that might be??).  I LOVE the little Sweet Pea image from the retired hostess set, Event Full.  I am delighted to present my challenge card for the Great Swaps Girls Sketch Challenge (GSGC06) that anyone can play in.

For this card, I copied the cute baby card on the top of page 4 of the current Mini Catalog.  I only changed a few things- the image, additional piercing at the bottom and the papers.  Instead of plain Bashful Blue, I used the Dotted Soft Sky from the Designer Series Prints.  I also used Gable Green (textured) for the green panel.  I used Shimmer White for the main image and kept one corner un-rounded.  Other than that, it’s an exact replica.  And I’m not too proud to admit it!

Deets:  Event Full set;  CS: Barely Banana Textured, Gable Green Textured, Soft Sky DSP, Whisper White, Shimmer White;  Inks:  Blk Stazon, Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi and Certainly Celery; Accessories: Aquapainter, Slit punch, paper piercing mat/template, Rose Red wide grosgrain, dimensionals.

SOTP, in the name of the LAW!

What’s wrong with this picture?

This is a real, non-altered (except where I took the city name off the patrol car) picture of an actual parking lot in our town.  Can you believe this actually caused an accident?

chocolate cake lovers….

This you gotta see!

No naps or allergies for Linda, that’s for sure!!

eta:  Okay, found this too, while catching up on my blogfeeds…. Natasha came up with a new blog dedicated to Clean & Simple fans…  http://cleanandsimplestamping.blogspot.com/ and her featured card is mostly PapertreyInk… yummy!

Enjoy your Memorial Day!  If you haven’t noticed yet, my quote of the day at the top left is about soldiers and one in particular who could use a lift.  He recently lost one foot and the other leg by a roadside bomb in Iraq.  He is the son of a dispatcher at the neighboring city.   A couple of years ago, he made national news by wanting to graduate from his high school wearing his Marine uniform.  This stirred up controversy locally and nationally and in the end, he wore his uniform under his gown.  (that sounds weird, doesn’t it?!).  Anyway, he is recuperating at the hospital listed and today is a good day to send a card.

Peace!

Evil Household Appliance… beware!

With Dog as my witness, I proclaim my undying hatred of this evil thing.   I’m warning you, oh ye of no value and pure spite, that someday I’ll pull the plug on you FOREVER.

My absence from blogging can be attributed to the following:

Fighting with the aforementioned evil thing.   I thought Joey Dangerbutt was bad with his shedding, but man… compared to a 20 lb, white fox terrier, he’s Mr. Clean.  Mitzi is so lucky she’s so darned cute.

Finishing my Biology class and lab assignments and Finals.  Happy to say it looks like I’m getting A’s in both!!!  Glad it’s over with though.  The only thing  I enjoyed out of that class was genetics and evolution.  Well, I guess I liked the lessons on the human body too.   Did you know your liver is the largest organ in your body?

Sorting 50 buttons and miscellaneous GSG logo goodies into padded envelopes, creating 50 3×3 cards to go in the envelope and mailing them off.  There are 15 of us Great Swap Girls going to convention and finally meeting, so we’ll be wearing a button “badge of honor”.

Here’s the button.  Well, actually, the artwork for the button.  It has “World Domination…. One Swap at a Time” on it as well.  Heh heh heh.

NVR (no vendor requirement) Swaps for another GSG Swap.  Unfortunately, I was in such an efficient mailing mode that I packaged up my swaps and THEN realized I didn’t get a pic of it!  Maybe I’ll recreate it.  Maybe I’ll wait til they come back.

Allergies are causing me extreme fatique.  Hope to get some energy soon to I can participate in the SCS and GSG challenges. If you’re one of the unlucky few waiting on a banner or watermark, I promise I haven’t forgotten.  I’m falling asleep at my laptop.  I just hope the drool & dog hair doesn’t zap it.

Have a nice Sunday!!

digi-birthday wishes…

Happy Birthday cards for teens require a little less “cutsey” and a little more…. cold, hard cash.  Ya, Keith and I are THAT Aunt & Uncle who give the kiddos money for birthdays.  But really, what else do teens want?  Anything we buy them would be truly embarrassing for everyone involved.

My niece turns 18 on the 21st and my nephew turned 16 on the 14th.  If you live in Santa Rosa, maybe stay off the sidewalks for a year or so (ar ar ar).  Both kids are Wonderful and my niece is going to SF University in the fall to study Dentistry.  She wants to be rich.

The cards were done digitally- 4″x5.25″, printed on photo paper and layered onto Whisper White Cardstock.

16 Card:  Anna Aspnes Metro Graffiti paper, Ablaze kit by Eva Kipler for Sweet Shoppe Designs,  Kelly Mize chipboard alpha.  Font for Happy Birthday is Tagster.

Butterfly card:  Jofia Devoe The Grass is Green, butterfly by ZPearn- HauteSpring elements.  Font for Happy Birthday is CK DearMissRose.
