Hostess Club Projects

Last Tuesday was the first Hostess Club of the Fall/Winter 2008 IB&C and it was a hit!  The catalog is definitely one of the best in a while, so I gave the gals 5 full days to ponder and get back to me with their orders.  And I thought my 1st order would keep me happy for a while – NOT!  I keep finding more…

Here are the projects we did for this club meeting.

Note Card holder ala' Dawn Griffiths

Note Card holder ala Dawn Griffiths

This is such an awesome project!!!  Dawn Griffiths has a video tutorial here and it’s totally easy to do!  Originally I was going to totally copy Dawn, and use Inspired by Nature on the card, but with 8 ladies and one stamp set- we would have been up til midnight since it required multiple steps for inking up the stamp.  The note card holder holds 4 note cards and 4 envelopes, so that was a LOT of stamping.  So I switched it to Eastern Blooms and the sentiments from Pocket Silhouettes, and used Chocolate Chip and Baja Breeze colors.  Brown taffeta ribbon finished it off.   To create this simple, yet elegant project, you need 2 medium sized envelopes, and the Stampin’ Up! notecards fit perfect inside.

Next, we completed the Upsy Daisy card using the technique Linda Hanson (i think?) demonstrated at Convention.  If you only purchase one silhouette stamp set, purchase this one.   Well, Inspired by Nature too.  Actually, you better get Pocket Silhouettes too… seriously- you will want them all.  This set is particularly versatile as you can do monochromatic colors or ink it up with daubers for a multicolored effect.  This card uses Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie, Red Riding Hood Red (hereby referred to as “riding hood”, “that new incolor red” or “RRHR” or i don’t know whut), and Old Olive.  The DSP is Haiku and we finished it off with Old Olive 5/8″ grosgrain.  The cardstock is Tangerine Tango, Old Olive & Whisper White.

The picture of the gift bag didn’t turn out, but it is the standard white gift bag (pack of 3) in the SU Catalog, then we used Tangerine & Haiku dsp.  We inked up the grass of Inspired by Nature with Tangerine and stamped it across the bottom.  The daisy part of Inspired by Nature was inked up with white craft ink.  We adhered the cardstock and dsp together, then wrapped the So Saffron Poly twill (yum!) around and made a tuxedo bow.  Last but not least, the tag was made by inking up only one of the daisys in the Inpired by Nature set, and stamping on a piece of whisper white.  The hole was made using the 1/4″ handheld hole punch and cutting a slit upward from the bottom to hook onto the bag handle.  Easy peasy!

August Club Member Swap Cards
August Club Member Swap Cards

Here is the August club swap cards!  The did great again!!  We used SC160 from SCS.  My hostesses earn raffle tickets if they meet certain criteria-  1 for participating, 1 for using the sketch, 1 for metal embellishments, 1 for flowers or ribbon… some ladies get quite a haul each month!  This month, they got an extra one from me since I FORGOT to make my swap card! Oops!

TTFN! Enjoy your Saturday!
