louvre-at-night

It’s been 44 days since we got home from an amazing, exhausting 4 country/5 city trip to Europe.  Two different climates and only with REI travel backpacks… what were we thinking?  Oh, I should say Keith was fine with his clothes,  but for a chick- ugh.  I am not and never will be a light packer.  I think rolling suitcases are the next best thing to actually traveling.

The photo above was taken at the Louvre in Paris.  I had to set my camera down on the fountain’s edge and hope for the best.  The Louvre was incredible.  We saw my favorite sculpture, Winged Victory of Samothrace (of which I did a term paper on in one of my English classes so I, ahem, felt I was rather an expert on it as I explained to Keith WHY it was so important to see her).  She is also known as Nike of Samothrace, which, incidentally Nike (my favorite athletic apparel) is named after.  We also saw the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo.   And a group of monks in their bright orange robes ascending the stairway under the pyramid.  We spent a full day there and it still wasn’t enough time.

I can’t wait to see all your pictures. I’m guessing you will be working on them in Bodega.
