Project 365

Over the past month, I’ve been reading in various places about Project 365.  Have you heard of it?  Becky Higgins had an article in the December issue of Creating Keepsakes, and she’s been detailing it on her blog.  On a digi-forum I stalk (designerdigitals.com), there is a group starting.  Basically this is a photo-journal for the year.  You take at least one picture (or more) a day for the year.

Some of you are saying… “OMIWERD!  I already can’t keep up scrappin’ my photos!  How am i supposed to keep up on this?”

I KNOW!!!!  Me too!  But there were some cool ideas that pushed me over the edge to just do it.  Here they are:

  • Keep a separate blog for your one-a-day photos – and that’s  it!
  • Upload your photos onto Shutterfly (or similar) and create a coffee table book of just your photographs (no journaling necessary!).
  • Use Becky Higgins’ Photo 365 scrapbook kit (see her video HERE)
  • Use Katie Pertiet’s “365 templates” if you’re doing the digi
  • Use Creating Keepsakes “365ideas” if you think there’s not enough interesting things in  your life to do the project.   That .pdf is located HERE.  Seriously, your morning cup of joe is project 365 worthy!

I’ve decided to go for it.  I’m also getting Keith involved because he wants to get better with his DSLR and photo composition.  My plan is to have a separate blog (geekgirl’s project 365)  and to upload to Shutterfly – no stress, no pressure.  The funny dog pic on this post isn’t mine, however.  It just makes me happy.  :D

PS- don’t forget to check this post and comment for blog candy!

I’ve really been considering doing this. I suck at photography, and don’t even really enjoy it, but I think it would be amazing to look back at a full year of pictures. I may give it a month and see if it’s too much work.

I’m also starting a 365 project. One drawing a day or something. But more like sketches I doubt I’ll ever post. It’s just to practice : p

That sounds like a good idea, but I am afraid that there are days I just don’t have anything that I want to take a picture of! The summer time is easy for me, but winter is too depressing!
