1000k Giveaway – but wait, there’s more!

HostessDecoElementsCanisters So have you noticed the latest Decor Elements catalog (no longer a brochure!)?

I am sweetening the pot for my 1000k Giveway and adding a 2nd prize for a 2nd winner, to be pulled once my blog hits 100,000 views.  It’s getting close!  From July 28th til that magic day, I’ll be collecting comments from anyone who cares to and will pull not just one, but TWO names.

So, without further ado, may I present the Decor Elements canister decor?  This is a set of 5 words, in black vinyl that can be added to a set of kitchen canisters. Make it for yourself, or it would make a great gift (especially if you filled the 5th canister with COOKIES!).

the time is drawing near….

Convention_08_rdax_215x192 Soon, swaps will be loaded into a 2nd piece of luggage.  Soon, minimal clothes will be packed in order to save space in a large piece of luggage in anticipation of  the Memento Mall.  Soon, women will don bobble antennae hair bands and colorful sashes.  Soon, planes filled with SU Demos, their new catalogs and their tool bags will land in Salt Lake City. Soon, the halls of the SLC Convention Center will look like this.  The Stampin’ Queen song will blare and all the land will know it’s time once again for the Stampin’ Shenanigans to commence.

I am not going this year.  Once was enough for me.  I came, I saw and I met Great Swaps Girls.  I had a UPS Out Of Body Experience.  There’s not much more I could ask for.  Except.

YOUR OPINION!  How is Stampin’ UP! doing?  Demos are polling their customers and taking that information to Convention.  So if  you have some time, try your hand at these questions.  I’ll pass it on.

  1. If you could make a suggestion for one future stamp set what would it be?
  2. What one thing would you like to see GO AWAY from the current catalog (any item)?
  3. What one tool would you like to see SU offer?
  4. What one change would you ask SU to make to the current catalog?
  5. What consumable accessory would you like to see SU offer?
  6. What do you think of the selection of Scrapbooks available in the catalog?

Inquiring minds want to know!

98,969 and counting…

SUCameraCaseOutside

Well Hello!  This is a camera case.  It’s not ANY camera case, it’s the case that was extremely coveted at the 2008 Stampin’ Up! Convention.  I think there was a riot actually, at the Memento Mall, when it came to these and the tool bag (matching).   If you can imagine 1000′s of SU Demos pulling out their craft scissors from their black aprons and fighting til the death over these….  then you know what it was like.  I RISKED MY LIFE to buy this.  And you know what?  It’s too small for my point & shoot (older one so it’s a little bigger than today’s standard).  So as much as I hate to part with it, I must.

But there’s a catch!

I’m less than 1100 views away from 100,000 VISITS! Can you believe that?  So on the day that rings in 100,000 posts, I’m giving it away to a random commenter.  For any comments left starting today.  :D  So I’ll post something daily – and if you care to, comment.  I’ll tally up the comments from now til that happy day in the future and someone will win this fabu case.

Check out the inside!  It has a velcro flap and 2 pockets for memory cards.  I’ll update with the measurements shortly.

Oh and yes, I’ve updated my sale page - I have copic markers, paper packs, notecards, ready-made cards, more stamps and inks and wheels-  LOTS!

I hope the citizens are prepared for this…

FirefighterStrike-lolcatz

Our department, like many others, have been restructuring due to budget cuts- and our most recent extortion from our State Capital.  For most citizens, the budget cuts are abstract.  They don’t really see what changes have been made because there are still cops & firefighters on the streets and dispatchers answering the phone.  It’s the most helpless that suffer… and their voices aren’t clearly understood.  I mean, “Meeow” can be interpreted so many different ways. ;)

Seriously- we did just lose ALL but one of our Community Service Officers, our Crime Scene/Evidence Specialist and 2 of our newest officers.  And the Chief is hinting at more.  It may not seem like a lot, however those CSO’s worked their tails off and the Police Officers will have to pick up where they left off.  Which includes animal complaints & abandoned vehicles- both of which take up an amazing amount of time and perseverance.  Just when we had enough officers to be proactive and actually REDUCE CRIME.  Honest- the last two years our officers have made such an impact.  Our citizens didn’t have long to wait for an officer when they needed us- even for report calls. And officers also had time to prowl around looking for nefarious individuals.  Which is so important.  If your agency can get in there and annoy the criminals by stopping and interrogating them constantly, they tend to find another place (city) to go do their thing.  So it’s more than 6 people- it’s a whole lifestyle.

But the great thing our city council did to make it all better (they were forced basically to close 2 pools- out of the 4 we have in town- for a city of 50,000) is now you can go to the pool for FREE on the weekend.  OH THAT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE WHEN YOU ARE IN A BUDGET CRISIS.  AND LAYING OFF PEOPLE.   I have a slogan on my work email signature:  “People, Not Pools”.  I can’t tell you how irritated this makes me (or can you tell??).  If you live in Rohnert Park- you should know this.  And be a bit annoyed with our city council.
