Yesterday I posted a glimpse of the good and bad during the holiday season at the Police Dept. Now I want to hear from you! What were your best holiday moments this year? Was there a “worst”?
Early on in the month something happened that disrupted our holiday plans and shook us up a bit. I can’t be more specific, but it did affect me and still does. Things are fine now, but this setback caused me to withdraw and not find my holiday spirit. Until yesterday. Reading what I wrote about putting others first being the true meaning of Christmas made me realize that I hadn’t been doing that this month. At least not fully in my heart- it was just “surviving” to get past Christmas.
I’m happy to say that even when something bad happens, I can usually find the good. It may take a while, but eventually I get it. Throughout the month, I did have little moments with Keith that reminded me to be grateful for the essentials. Yesterday my post drove it home. I am SO GRATEFUL we have our health. That we have our home. That we have our jobs. That we have a relatively normal, drama-free family. Grateful even for the ”clutter that’s driving me crazy” because I have clutter. There are so many people right now with none of this and then have it even worse.
So, because I missed out this year in making my own holiday spirit, tell me your happy holiday stories. There’s still time before New Year’s to catch some. And if you have an “ugly” holiday story, tell me that too! We’ll cheer each other up!

Happy moments: The look of wonder in Elsa’s eyes all season long, about everything from the neighbor’s lights to Santa’s cookies disappearing.
Worst moments: Christmas eve when Tuffy bit me SO hard while nursing that he broke skin.
You asked! ;)
I’m sorry about whatever happened, I’m glad you’re getting past it.
Happy new year!!!!!

I worked until 8pm. I had expected to visit with my parents and pick up Linda from enjoying the holiday with the family.
All my sisters and their families had waited for me to get off work and make it down to Petaluma. They visited with me, let me play their new Wii game, and my nephew even took the time to put together my present for me. I am sure their drives home were fog filled and longer for them than usual but it made me very happy to see them all still there just for me :-)
Onward to 2010 … prayers for peace and healing for all!
Happy New Year!

OK, My best moment was a day spent out “in the country” at stables where my daughter has started her brand new passion for all things horses. They had a candy cane hunt on horseback. My daughter managed to fall off a horse that was standing stock still, but had a blast. My husband and I were able to stop bickering long enough to really enjoy our family time and my girls didn’t utter a cross word to each other.
So for the new year, my husband and I are going to try to behave respectfully towards each other and enjoy each other always.
BTW, I noticed your quote from Aldous Huxley. We named our first dog together after him because of a quote from him we found about procreation. We had planned to breed him (he was a vizsla) initially and came to our senses after a couple of years of having an unneutered male. Huxley was the best and sweetest boy ever.
Happy New Year!
