Jan 1 2010 – Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!!   Did you celebrate last night?  We went to one of our favorite restaurants last night with my sister & best friends- then onto a tiny little bar with a live band to ring in the new year.  We’re all impressed with ourselves that we stayed up ’til midnite and actually out in public!  We’re party animals!

So what are your plans for 2010? Did you make any Resolutions?

I felt a little ambitious and came up with a Top 10 List of Resolutions. Yup. 10. I don’t know what I was thinking, but some are really really easy, so maybe it’ll work out… heh.  Putting it in writing here to make it “official”.

  1. Breathe.  Breathe lightly, breathe heavily, catch a breath and take a moment to breathe in what’s around me.  Pretty good, eh?  You can interpret that soo many ways and apply it to everything.  It could be really easy or really hard to do as well.  But it goes along with #2….
  2. MOVE.  I have a sedentary job.  I also come home and play on my laptop.  So I really want to make moving more a priority!
  3. Which brings me to – Lose 20 lbs!  Over the last few years, it’s crept back on and I don’t like it one bit.  #4 should really help out too…
  4. Run a 20k (12 miles) – I’m starting a training program today for a 20k trail run on March 20.  I have always preferred trail running to street running, because it’s more like playing (and you use your whole body to manuver around tree trunks, rocks, etc).
  5. Learn how to take pictures with flash – hopefully a speedlight!
  6. Make 10 cards a month – 5 Christmas (so i can get some out next Christmas!) and 5 miscellaneous.
  7. Complete my Project 52 and have something to show for it next January.  I feel like I failed miserably at the Project 365.  It’s much harder than people think… How many pictures of dogs or flowers can a gal take??
  8. Be more available to others- meaning- volunteer or make that casserole for a grieving family- just doing something whenever I can for others.  I’m hit & miss and can do better.
  9. Master the art of cupcakery.  Martha Stewart’s 175 Cupcakes will assist me in this goal.  I hope this isn’t a self-defeating goal that ruins #3.  Moderation is key.
  10. And last but not least- date my hubby!  We decided we’ll go on date night once a week – taking turns on who chooses what we’re doing.  I know we’re lucky we can do this weekly, whereas some couples are lucky to get one night out a year.  But we’re making this a priority.  It’s too easy to become invisible and take each other for granted.

So now this is in writing and I’m being held to it.  What did i just do?  Should we start a pool on the success rate?

What are your goals for 2010?  Resolutions?  Any trips planned? Did you succeed in last year’s resolutions?  Anyone want to join me in any of these resolutions and blog about it?
